Unpredictable. Tour de force. Adele's Understudy. Jayson Acevedo is a Chicago-born, multi-talented actor, comedian, singer, and writer who has captivated audiences with his dynamic performances across both stage and screen.
His stand-up comedy has earned international acclaim, having performed in five countries, two languages, and across major comedy festivals. He was recently voted Best of the Fest by audience vote at the 2025 SLO Comedy Fest in San Luis Obispo, California, where he performed at the 2,000-seat San Luis Obispo Performing Arts Center. Additionally, he was recognized as Best of Fest at the 2023 Burbank Comedy Festival. From the clubs of Chicago to stages across the country, Acevedo continues to prove himself as a rising force in comedy.
Most notable comedy festival appearances include Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2015), NBCUniversal’s BreakOut Comedy Fest (2017 & 2018, Chicago), and the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival (2022, Jamestown, NY).
A standout on the stage, Acevedo’s recent role as the leading Jacob Lunsford in Miracle at Century High School, a Christmas musical at The Annoyance Theater in Chicago, marked his triumphant return to musical theater after a 12-year hiatus. On the big screen, his work continues to impress, with notable roles in the short film Dirty Business, which was selected for the 41st Chicago Latino Film Festival, and Metztli, which premiered at the iconic Chinese Theater as part of the 2024 Golden State Film Festival in Los Angeles.
From top comedy clubs like The Laugh Factory, Zanies, Lincoln Lodge, and The Second City to memorable performances at House of Blues and beyond, Acevedo continues to bring his one-of-a-kind energy to audiences everywhere.

Acevedo's comedy has proven to translate well around the world, having told jokes in 4 different countries (France, Scotland, Colombia, & Mexico). Acevedo was chosen to proudly represent the City of Chicago in Mexico City as part of the 2019 Year of Chicago Theatre by "Choose Chicago," the official destination marketing organization for the city in direct partnership with the legendary Second City.
